When it comes to these types of contact lenses, unlike daily wear or disposable contacts, they enable you to wear them for as much as seven days at the time without the need to remove them each night to clean. However, there are now ones of the market that are being marketed as being able to be worn for up to 30 days without the need for them to be removed. Although they look like conventional contact lenses these have the ability to allow plenty of oxygen to pass through them and reach the cornea.
Yes extended wear contact lenses are designed to be worn continuously for up to 30 days it doesn’t mean you have to. Just like conventional contact lenses if you wish to remove then and then use them on other days you can. It is important however that after removing them you clean and store them properly to minimize any possibility of eye infections. So you are the one in control of when and for how long you actually wear them.
So what sorts of extended wear contact lenses can one use these days? Below we take a look at some of the soft contact lenses available that your optician may recommend.

The polymer that is used in the making of these is called Tetrafilcon A and ensures that sufficient amounts of oxygen and moisture are able to pass through the lens to the cornea behind.
Although these extended wear contact lenses can be worn for up to 30 days at a time if you wish to take them out you can and place them in a solution to keep them from drying out. They are slightly tinted but this doesn’t change the color of the wearer’s eyes to help when locating them in the solution.
